Oliver grew up in Olympia, Washington. After earning a degree in marine biology from Western Washington University, he moved to Maui, Hawaii to work as a sea kayak guide. Realizing he missed the mountains, Oliver moved to Jackson in the spring of 2018. That first season he split his time between working as a river chef on the Snake River and climbing in the Tetons. He left the US after that summer and traveled around volunteering and playing for a year before moving to Utah to work as a wilderness therapy guide. Since returning in the spring of 2021, Oliver has continued guiding rafts down the Snake River in the summers and leading sled trips in Yellowstone during the winters. When he’s not on the river you can find him climbing, mountain biking, or scrambling around the Teton Valley.
